About us
Yakkuna started with a simple observation: the chew aisle is full of things that are either bad for dogs or unpleasant to have in your house.
What we sell
Hard cheese chews, made by hand in Nepal from yak and cow milk. Families in the Himalayas have made this cheese for generations as food that keeps without a fridge. It turns out to be close to a perfect dog chew: extremely hard, very high in protein, almost no fat, and — the part people notice first — almost no smell.
How they are made
Milk is boiled and curdled with lime juice, salted, pressed into a dense block, and then air-dried for four to twelve weeks. That is the whole process. Nothing is smoked, nothing is bleached, nothing is preserved. The ingredient list is milk, salt and lime juice, plus a natural flavour in the flavoured chews.
What we will not do
We will not tell you a hard chew is right for every dog, because it is not. Our sizing quiz will tell you honestly when the answer is no — a puppy under four months, a dog with damaged teeth, a dog with a dairy sensitivity. We would rather lose a sale than have you spend the evening at an emergency vet.
We also will not claim our chews treat any condition. Chewing can help reduce plaque as part of a normal dental routine. That is a real, modest benefit, and we will not inflate it.
Where we ship from
The chews are made in Nepal and held in a warehouse in Texas, so your order does not cross an ocean after you place it. Orders leave within 1–2 business days.
